I have a love-hate relationship with Howard Stern.Well, it's a one way relationship, of course. He
doesn't know I exist. On the positive side, I admire his free speech principles
and independence. I often find him very funny and
creative. I sometimes agree with his opinions and
positions. On the negative side, I disagree with him a lot, and I
can't stand his attitude that anyone who doesn't agree
with him is just stupid. He has changed his positions on so many things (not
a bad thing at all, btw) that I don't get how he can take
that attitude in the first place.I'm appalled that he can be so blind to the encroachment
of personal liberties and denial of the bill of rights that is
going on in this phony war on terror. I can't believe he is
more than happy to have naked body radiation pictures
taken of himself, his wife and daughters, if they want to travel,
all in the name of "security".I don't get how he thinks sexually invasive pat downs are OK.This, from the guy who has defended our speech rights...
It's just so incompatible.I remember his support for the war, and his desire to nuke Iran
and many other countries. He wasn't kidding. Now he says he
was wrong about the war.Good thing he wasn't in a position to nuke anyone.Anyway, I'm writing about something that ticks me off about him
that isn't nearly so weighty, but it ticks me off nonetheless. He does not tell his listeners when he has days or weeks off.
We just have to find out when his show is in reruns and wonder
if he'll be back on the following Monday, etc. That, to me, is the ultimate disrespect, especially as a PAYING
subscriber. It's the ultimate F.U. to the people making his salary
possible.Well guess what Howie? F.U. too.
